Fully diluted не означает literally all future tokens forever
В таком случае нужны annual issuance, projected supply and horizon-based valuation.
|---|---|---|
| Market cap | Price × circulating supply | Текущую circulating valuation |
| FDV | Price × total/max supply по методике | Теоретическую diluted valuation |
| MC/FDV | Market cap / FDV | Долю diluted valuation, отражённую current circulation |
| Free-float valuation | Price × estimated free float |
| Implied future MC | Scenario price × future circulating supply | Сценарную будущую valuation |
Community rewards, team, seed funds and treasury имеют разные incentives.
Нужно знать ownership and cost basis.
Burn or reduction total supply
Переклассификация locked treasury or circulating supply может резко изменить ratio без on-chain economic event.
FDV risk and valuation risk separate.
Early network can have long vesting, strong adoption and disciplined releases.
Question is whether future demand can absorb supply at assumed valuation.
|---|---|---|
| 0.1 | Очень большой diluted gap | Unlock speed, private cost basis |
| 0.25 | Большая часть supply ещё вне circulation | Vesting and emissions |
| 0.5 | Средний gap | Recipients and liquidity |
| ≈1 | Малый denominator gap | Valuation, liquidity, fundamentals |
Точная методология зависит от treasury, locked and insider balances.
Total supply — существующие units minus removed supply
Проверяйте smart contract and provider definition.
Max supply —
Max supply not always equal current total supply.
Free float —
Tokens foundation treasury
Staking может иметь liquid unstaking or liquid-staking representation.
Bridge contracts и custodians искажают holder analysis
Holder list is not free-float list.
Burn уменьшает supply denominator
Provably removed tokens usually cease to count in total supply methodologies.
Burn can lower FDV at same price.
Mint increases potential dilution
If governance/admin can issue new tokens beyond published assumptions, FDV based on current supply understates future denominator risk.
Mint authority belongs in valuation analysis.
Low float / high FDV:
Low float makes price easier to move
Если only small supply available, modest demand can raise marginal price sharply.
FDV then expands across all locked tokens even though only few units traded.
Small market cap can coexist with huge FDV
This creates visual impression of early cheap project.
Actually current price may already imply mature-scale valuation.
Private investors may sit on huge unrealised gains
Seed cost basis can be 5–20 times lower than public price.
They can profitably sell far below retail break-even.
Initial liquidity can be tiny
Market cap may be hundreds millions while executable depth only hundreds thousands.
Mark valuation does not equal exit capacity.
Unlock creates denominator and seller shock
New tokens become transferable while demand may not grow simultaneously.
Price can adjust even if project fundamentals unchanged.
High FDV requires high future value creation
To sustain current unit price as supply expands, aggregate demand/value must absorb larger circulating valuation.
Ask which product metrics can plausibly scale accordingly.
Narrative can hide dilution
Marketing highlights current low market cap and ignores diluted valuation.
Always show MC and FDV side by side.
Low float amplifies ATH and drawdown
Early thin market can create extreme highs and later large declines.
Historical price anchors are weaker when initial float was tiny.
Market maker cannot create permanent demand
Liquidity management can smooth execution, but it cannot guarantee buyers for years of unlock.
Structural demand must come from users/investors.
The trap is not inevitable
Some low-float projects grow demand faster than supply and perform well.
Risk is asymmetry, not deterministic failure.
FDV without unlock schedule is incomplete
Release over ten years and release next quarter are different risks.
Build calendar by month/quarter and show percentage of current circulating supply.
Cliff creates discrete event risk
Long lock can suddenly end with large batch becoming transferable.
Measure cliff notional versus free float and liquidity, not only total supply.
Linear vesting creates persistent flow
Daily or monthly releases are easier to model but can create continuous sell pressure.
Look at recipient behaviour and absorption, not just schedule.
Team unlock has incentive context
Founders may need liquidity for taxes or diversification while remaining committed to project.
Do not label all team selling malicious; measure size and transparency.
Investor unlock has cost-basis asymmetry
Private funds often entered much cheaper and can sell profitably below public prices.
Discount magnitude matters more than slogan long-term investor.
Advisor unlock can be faster
Advisor allocations may have shorter commitments and less operational attachment.
Separate them from employee/founder vesting.
Treasury distributions are less predictable
Governance-controlled treasury can release grants, incentives or liquidity outside a simple investor vesting chart.
Add discretionary supply to scenario model.
Ecosystem rewards can dominate inflation
User/staking incentives may release more tokens than team unlock.
Focus on net new circulating supply from all channels.
Airdrops create near-zero cost basis
Recipients can sell without needing price above public funding rounds.
Claim timing and unclaimed balances create latent supply.
Staking rewards compound supply
Nominal APR can distribute new units continuously. If demand does not scale, holders face dilution.
Compare staking yield to network fee/revenue economics.
Burn offsets some issuance
Net issuance = mint/rewards/unlock minus burn only when categories are economically comparable.
One burn event should not hide larger emission.
Unlock value at current price is not sale proceeds
Large unlocked notional marked at spot cannot be liquidated at same price if depth thin.
Estimate price impact under several sale fractions.
Unlock can be absorbed without price decline
Demand can grow enough to buy new supply.
Observed absorption is evidence, but future schedule remains separate.
Price can fall before unlock
Markets anticipate known events. Sellers can front-run expected dilution.
Do not expect exact date to be only moment of risk.
Price can rise through unlock
Strong product/cycle demand may dominate supply.
This does not make dilution irrelevant; it means demand exceeded it.
Unlock-adjusted market cap is useful
Project future circulating supply at current or scenario price to see valuation burden.
This is more actionable than static FDV alone.
12-month dilution percentage should be explicit
Calculate future circulation / current circulation − 1.
100% increase means market needs roughly twice aggregate demand to hold price all else equal.
Cost-basis map improves interpretation
Group seed/private/public/team incentives by acquisition terms where disclosed.
Seller pressure depends on profit cushion and mandate.
Long vesting can still imply high FDV risk
Even if immediate unlock small, current price may imply very high valuation years before business maturity.
Separate timing risk from valuation risk.
Short vesting can be manageable with deep demand
High issuance does not guarantee collapse if users and capital scale rapidly.
Again, supply and demand must be modelled together.
|---|---|---|
| 12m dilution | Future circ / current circ − 1 | Темп роста supply |
| Unlock / current float | New units / current circ |
| Unlock / depth | Unlock notional / executable depth | Риск impact |
Compare like with like
FDV one project should be compared with FDV peers, not current market cap peers.
Keep denominator consistent.
Sector stage matters
Mature L1 and pre-product token deserve different valuation frameworks.
Peer set should match product maturity.
FDV per user can contextualize scale
Divide diluted valuation by active/retained users carefully.
User definitions differ and bots can distort counts.
FDV to annual fees
For fee-generating protocols, compare diluted valuation with sustainable annual fees.
Fees are not automatically token-holder revenue.
FDV to revenue needs value capture
Company revenue can bypass token entirely.
Only use multiple after mapping token economics.
FDV to TVL can mislead
TVL changes with asset prices and incentives.
Use it as one relative measure, not intrinsic value.
FDV to treasury assets can help
For asset-backed or treasury-heavy protocols, compare diluted valuation with liquid external assets.
Own-token treasury should be discounted.
Implied price at peer FDV
Peer FDV divided by target token diluted supply gives scenario price.
This is comparative scenario, not price target guarantee.
Implied FDV at old ATH
Historical price × current diluted supply reveals valuation old price implies today.
Supply changes can make old ATH far more demanding.
Implied market cap after unlock
Scenario price × future circulating supply shows valuation future market must support.
Useful before large cliffs.
Bear/base/bull scenarios should vary both price and supply
Changing price alone misses dilution.
Use projected supply in each horizon.
Avoid one-point targets
Future product and demand are uncertain.
Ranges with explicit assumptions are more honest.
Compare diluted ownership concentration
High FDV with large insider share deserves governance and seller-risk discount.
Ownership quality matters beyond total valuation.
Compare liquidity per FDV
Two projects same FDV can have radically different depth.
Liquidity determines whether valuation is executable.
Compare unlock duration
10-year emission and 1-year emission with same FDV are not equivalent.
Time distribution alters risk.
Compare inflation after full vesting
Some protocols continue emissions forever.
FDV based on current total supply may not capture perpetual inflation.
Compare burn mechanisms skeptically
Burn linked to real usage differs from discretionary marketing burn.
Net monetary policy matters.
Use current data timestamp
FDV changes with price every second and supply methodology updates.
Document date when comparing.
Adjust for migrations/rebases
Unit definition changes can break historical FDV series.
Normalize supply and price before time comparison.
FDV is best as a question generator
High number asks what demand supports it; low number asks whether rights/product are real.
It should never replace full due diligence.
Marketing shows market cap, hides FDV
Low circulating valuation looks early while diluted value already huge.
Always place both metrics together.
Marketing shows FDV only when it looks low
Selective metric choice creates framing bias.
Use consistent dashboard across projects.
Provider supply data can be stale
Unlock, burn or treasury reclassification may update late.
Cross-check project docs/on-chain when material.
Max supply can be governance-changeable
Published cap may not be immutable.
Inspect mint rules and governance authority.
Total supply can differ from max supply
Not all potentially issuable units exist yet.
Know which denominator provider uses.
Circulating supply can be disputed
Treasury/custodial/staked classification differs.
Ratio precision can be false.
Locked tokens can vote
Market float low while governance power already concentrated.
FDV analysis should include control rights.
Unclaimed tokens create latent supply
Not circulating today but claimable later.
Track claim windows.
Lost tokens complicate effective supply
Provably lost units reduce economic float, but proof is hard.
Do not assume dormant equals lost.
Bridged/wrapped units risk double counting
Representations can be backed by locked originals.
Use canonical supply methodology.
Low-liquidity price can inflate FDV
One small trade raises token price and scales entire diluted supply.
Check depth before trusting headline valuation.
Wash trading can reinforce fake price confidence
Turnover can look strong while real liquidity weak.
Depth and independent counterparties matter.
FDV can collapse without unlock
Price simply falls, lowering diluted valuation.
High FDV is not fixed future obligation.
FDV can rise before product delivery
Speculation raises price, scaling all future units.
Valuation can outrun fundamentals.
MC/FDV can approach 1 while price collapses
Unlock increases circulating supply and price falls.
Ratio improvement alone is not bullish.
MC/FDV can remain low while price rises
Low float persists and FDV balloons.
This can increase dilution asymmetry.
High FDV is not equal to high treasury
Project does not own full token supply value in cash.
Do not confuse token valuation and funding runway.
FDV is not enterprise value
Debt, cash, treasury, rights and corporate structure differ.
Stock-market analogies have limits.
FDV is not guaranteed market cap at max supply
Future price reacts to future supply/demand.
Treat it as theoretical snapshot.
A precise FDV can create false certainty
Input supply may be modelled and price marginal.
Round numbers and scenario bands often communicate reality better.

Практикум: private unlock and breakeven
Практикум: unlock notional vs average daily volume
Посчитайте, сколько capital available within ±2% current price, если у вас есть reliable depth data. Unlock в 50 раз больше этой глубины не означает мгновенный crash, но показывает, что large sale cannot execute near spot without gradual distribution.
Практикум: unlock notional vs free float
Use current free float as denominator when analysing short-term supply shock, а total supply — для diluted ownership.
Практикум: unlock notional vs treasury runway
Team or foundation may not sell unlocked tokens if treasury has sufficient external assets. Если runway короткий, operating expenses can create recurring sales.
Сочетайте vesting calendar with treasury cash needs; unlock alone does not reveal necessity to sell.
Практикум: FDV и project runway
Высокий FDV может создавать illusion that project financially rich. Но treasury may hold only a small portion or mostly own token, which cannot be liquidated at headline valuation without price impact.
Runway should be calculated in liquid external assets plus conservative own-token liquidation assumptions.
Практикум: FDV и protocol fees
Suppose protocol collects 5 млн annual fees and FDV 5 млрд. Ratio 1000x gross fees выглядит high, but sector, growth and token value capture matter. If token receives none of fees, even this comparison can be misleading.
Always distinguish protocol economics from token-holder economics.
Практикум: FDV и revenue-sharing token
If smart contract directs part of fees to token holders or buyback/burn, link between activity and token economics clearer. Then diluted valuation can be compared against sustainable distributable cash-flow-like metric with appropriate caution.
Legal rights, governance ability to change distribution and treasury dependence remain important.
Практикум: FDV и governance-only token
Governance token may have no direct fee stream. Its value can derive from control over treasury, protocol parameters or strategic resource. Traditional revenue multiple then may not be suitable.
FDV still measures scale, but denominator for fundamental comparison must match token rights.
Практикум: FDV и security token utility
Native PoS coin may secure network through staking. Demand relates to required collateral/security participation, while rewards and inflation expand supply.
Valuation model must include both utility to validators and dilution paid to them.
FDV and stablecoin
Stablecoin FDV is usually not interpreted like speculative token valuation because price targets peg rather than equity-like appreciation. Supply growth often represents more units issued against backing or demand.
Do not apply low-float/high-FDV investment heuristics blindly across asset classes.
FDV and RWA token
Token representing legal claim on real asset requires comparison with underlying asset value, liabilities and redemption terms. FDV based on token supply can be secondary to actual claim structure.
Fully diluted valuation only makes sense after you know what each diluted token is entitled to receive.
FDV and NFT-related fungible token
Utility token attached to NFT ecosystem can have large FDV despite small current user base because most supply reserved for rewards. Future emissions may be necessary to incentivize activity.
Question is whether ecosystem demand expands before rewards create persistent sell pressure.
FDV and memecoin
Memecoin may have nearly full circulation from launch, making MC/FDV close to 1 and dilution risk low. Yet holder concentration, liquidity and speculative demand can remain extreme.
This is clear example that good MC/FDV ratio does not equal low overall risk.
FDV and fair launch
No private rounds can remove one source of cost-basis asymmetry, but fair launch may still have miner/bot advantages, concentrated early buyers or large treasury emissions.
Validate actual distribution and liquidity rather than relying on launch label.
FDV after token burn vote
Governance approves burning unallocated treasury. If burn executes and supply data updates, FDV at same price decreases. This changes diluted denominator, but does not automatically increase holder wealth.
Price response depends on whether market already expected burn and whether burned units were economically likely to enter circulation.
FDV after mint expansion
Governance increases maximum supply to fund incentives. Price can remain unchanged initially, mechanically raising potential diluted valuation under max-supply methodology.
Investor should reassess whether new incentives create enough long-term demand to justify additional dilution.
FDV with no hard cap
For inflationary network with no max supply, terminal FDV has no stable endpoint. Better use projected supply at one, three, five or ten years and scenario prices.
Horizon-based diluted valuation is more honest than pretending an infinite issuance has one final denominator.
FDV with declining inflation
Emission can start high and decay over time. Current annual dilution may look scary, while long-term schedule converges to low rate.
Plot cumulative supply by year rather than using today’s inflation forever.
FDV with variable inflation
Governance or algorithm may adjust rewards according to staking ratio, utilization or other metrics. Future supply then has model uncertainty.
Use ranges for projected circulation and state assumptions explicitly.
FDV and validator rewards paid from fees
If rewards increasingly come from real transaction fees rather than new issuance, security economics can improve without same dilution.
Separate gross staking yield into issuance component and fee component.
FDV and buyback-funded burn
Protocol uses real external fees to buy token and burn it. This creates a direct flow from usage into token demand/supply reduction.
Still compare buyback size with FDV and liquidity; tiny program cannot justify arbitrary valuation.
FDV and discretionary burn
Team burns treasury units that had no planned distribution. Marketing can call this major deflation, but economic effect may be less than headline percentage suggests.
Ask whether units were genuinely expected to become circulating.
FDV and locked liquidity
Liquidity-provider tokens locked for years reduce rug-like withdrawal risk but do not change token FDV directly.
FDV and liquidity safety are orthogonal dimensions that should appear on same risk card.
FDV and concentrated LP
Project can have billions FDV while one pool controls most executable liquidity. Exit capacity depends on pool reserves, not diluted valuation.
This mismatch is especially dangerous when users assume large valuation means deep market.
FDV and fragmented liquidity
Token trades across chains and pools. Aggregate depth can look large, but your specific representation may have weak exit path or bridge dependency.
Liquidity-adjusted FDV analysis should identify canonical and fragmented venues without relying on brand rankings.
FDV and bridge mint
Wrapped representation can create additional token units while canonical underlying is locked. Naive aggregation can double-count supply.
Use provider methodology and backing relationship to avoid inflated FDV.
FDV and token migration
Old supply may be burned, frozen or remain claimable while new token issued. During transition, providers can show inconsistent denominators.
Do not trust FDV until migration accounting reconciles old and new claims.
FDV and reverse split
1000 old tokens become one new unit. Price rises about 1000x mechanically while supply falls about 1000x, leaving aggregate valuation broadly unchanged absent market move.
Unit price shock should not be misread as FDV growth.
FDV and rebase
Elastic-supply token changes balances periodically. Current price and total supply interact dynamically, so historical FDV must be read with rebase schedule.
Holder performance cannot be inferred from unit price alone.
FDV and token tax
Transfer/sell tax reduces effective proceeds but does not necessarily change quoted FDV. Headline valuation can overstate realizable value to holders.
Include execution friction when comparing seemingly cheap tokens.
FDV and blacklist/freeze
Admin can freeze addresses or restrict transfers while FDV remains large. Economic rights differ materially from permissionless token.
Governance/admin risk belongs beside valuation metrics.
FDV and pause authority
Pause can protect protocol during exploit but also temporarily eliminate transferability.
Large FDV does not guarantee continuous liquidity or property-like control.
FDV and upgradeable proxy
Contract owner may change token logic after valuation analysis. Mint, fees or transfer rules could evolve.
Record current implementation and upgrade authority so FDV assumptions are versioned.
FDV and protocol exploit
Exploit can instantly reduce price while supply unchanged, collapsing FDV. If new tokens minted illegitimately, denominator also changes.
After incident recompute valuation from current contract state; pre-exploit FDV may be irrelevant.
FDV and treasury hack
Stolen treasury tokens can move from inactive allocation into liquid attacker supply.
This can increase effective float without official vesting event and create selling pressure.
FDV and vesting contract exploit
Bug can prematurely release locked tokens. Static tokenomics becomes invalid immediately.
Security of vesting infrastructure is part of dilution risk.
FDV and lost treasury keys
Inaccessible locked tokens may become economically removed, but proof and governance recovery options matter.
Do not reduce denominator unless protocol or provider methodology recognizes loss.
FDV and dormant whale
Large holder inactive for years still contributes to supply denominator if tokens valid. Dormancy lowers immediate flow but not ownership concentration.
Track flow risk separately from diluted valuation.
FDV and OTC redistribution
Private transfer changes owner without changing price, supply or FDV. New owner may have different liquidity horizon.
Holder incentives can change while valuation metrics stay identical.
FDV and market-wide bull cycle
Price rises across sector, scaling FDVs even if token-specific usage unchanged.
Peer multiples can inflate together; relative comparison alone may not identify absolute overvaluation.
FDV and bear cycle
Price compression lowers FDV rapidly while product metrics may improve.
Low FDV can become more attractive, but only if supply and product thesis remain sound.
FDV and ATH anchor
Investors multiply old ATH by current max supply and produce huge hypothetical FDV. If supply expanded, old unit price may require far more aggregate valuation than before.
Use old ATH as scenario, never as guaranteed target.
FDV and current price target
Analyst says token can reach $10. Multiply $10 by diluted supply first. If result exceeds valuations of much larger networks, assumptions need exceptional justification.
This simple implied-FDV check catches many unrealistic targets.
FDV and percentage-upside claim
Token at $0.20 is marketed as easy 10x to $2. The real question is what FDV at $2 becomes and whether future supply makes that valuation credible.
Percent upside without denominator is incomplete.
FDV and unit-price comparison
Token A $0.01 and Token B $100 cannot be ranked by cheapness. Supply differences can reverse aggregate valuation by orders of magnitude.
Always compare ownership share or market/FDV metrics.
FDV and one-dollar fallacy
Users assume every token can eventually trade at $1. For 100 trillion supply this implies $100 trillion diluted valuation.
Simple multiplication reveals impossible or extreme scenarios.
FDV and decimal bias
Projects can choose huge unit count so price appears psychologically cheap. Decimals change units, not proportional ownership.
Evaluate percentage of supply acquired for your capital.
FDV and treasury valuation claim
Project says treasury owns tokens worth billions at current FDV. If those are own tokens, liquidating them would likely impact price heavily.
External treasury and self-issued token value should be shown separately.
FDV and collateral value
Protocols accept their own token as collateral while token has high FDV but low depth. Liquidation event can expose reflexive valuation.
Collateral haircut should reflect liquidity, not headline market metrics.
FDV and leverage
Leveraged derivatives do not alter token supply directly, but can move spot price through liquidations/squeezes, rapidly expanding or shrinking FDV.
FDV volatility can therefore reflect positioning rather than fundamental supply change.
FDV and listing hype
New access can drive marginal price higher while circulating supply remains tiny, producing enormous FDV in hours.
Wait for depth and broader price discovery before treating early FDV as stable valuation.
FDV and price discovery after TGE
First trades occur before market knows natural equilibrium. Every small price movement is multiplied by entire diluted supply.
Initial FDV should be considered provisional and especially sensitive to liquidity.
FDV and delayed unlock
Team postpones cliff, reducing near-term supply. This can support market structure but may also signal governance discretion over supposedly fixed tokenomics.
Evaluate both dilution relief and rule-change credibility.
FDV and accelerated unlock
Project accelerates investor vesting due merger or governance decision. Near-term supply changes abruptly.
Immediately rebuild circulation scenarios and reassess risk.
FDV and token-holder governance vote on emissions
Current holders may vote to increase rewards to grow ecosystem, accepting dilution for potential network effects.
FDV analysis should frame this as capital allocation trade-off, not simply bad supply growth.
FDV and fee abstraction
Users can pay fees without holding native token, reducing direct demand while supply schedule unchanged.
Same FDV may become less defensible if token utility weakened.
FDV and new token utility
Protocol adds required staking/collateral use, potentially increasing structural demand.
Do not assume utility automatically justifies existing FDV; measure actual capital required.
FDV and governance treasury control
Token holders control billions in external treasury assets. Governance power may create real strategic value beyond fees.
Analyse whether voting concentration lets small group capture treasury.
FDV and legal claim
Some tokens may carry contractual rights, others only protocol privileges. Identical FDV numbers can represent radically different economic claims.
Compare rights before comparing multiples.
FDV and regulatory restriction
Restricted access can reduce addressable demand or change token transferability while supply unchanged.
Valuation must reflect actual market participants and legal constraints.
Практикум: final sanity check
Write current market cap, FDV, MC/FDV, 12-month dilution, largest unlock, seed discount, free-float estimate and 2% depth on one page.
If investment thesis still depends mainly on low unit price or old ATH after seeing these numbers, valuation reasoning is probably anchored rather than fundamental.
Price and supply change continuously, Всегда сохраняйте timestamp and provider together with metric.
Финальная проверка: reconcile provider with on-chain supply
Если provider показывает total supply, который сильно расходится с contract or official tokenomics, выясните burned, bridged, locked and treasury classification.
Document reconciliation and uncertainty.
MC/FDV ratio therefore inherits methodology risk. Treat small differences as estimates, not exact physical constants.
FDV should survive unit conversion
If token redenominated 1:1000, correct adjusted price and supply should keep aggregate valuation broadly consistent absent real repricing.
Если FDV jumps thousandfold only because units changed, data series not normalized.
Финальная проверка: compare ownership percentage
Ask what percentage of fully diluted supply your planned capital buys at current price. This removes unit-price illusion and makes projects comparable.
Owning 0.001% of one network and 0.000001% of another provides clearer scale than comparing token prices.
Финальная проверка: model next cliff, not terminal supply only
Investor holding six months cares more about supply released during that horizon than tokens locked for ten years.
Terminal FDV remains context, while horizon-adjusted circulation drives practical dilution risk.
Финальная проверка: distinguish unlock from emission
Unlock makes existing allocated tokens transferable; emission creates/distributes new units according to protocol schedule.
Both can increase circulation but incentives and predictability differ, so keep them separate in model.
Финальная проверка: distinguish emission from treasury sale
Treasury distribution transfers previously controlled units; validator reward may mint new supply; both create market flow differently.
A single ‘inflation’ number can hide important ownership dynamics.
Финальная проверка: include token incentives in cost of growth
Protocol can acquire users by paying newly issued tokens. Revenue and activity look strong while dilution finances acquisition.
Compare sustainable post-incentive retention to diluted valuation.
Финальная проверка: discount unauditable tokenomics
If project cannot provide exact allocation, vesting contracts or emission rules, uncertainty itself deserves risk discount.
Complexity should reduce acceptable position size rather than inspire optimistic assumptions.
Финальная проверка: use conservative supply scenario
When schedule ambiguous, model higher future circulation rather than best-case locked supply.
This avoids valuation thesis depending on favourable interpretation of missing data.
Финальная проверка: use conservative liquidity scenario
Assume exit happens during stress when depth lower, not at today’s calm snapshot.
FDV is easiest to admire in liquid bull market and hardest to monetize in selloff.
Финальная проверка: separate theoretical and executable valuation
Theoretical FDV applies one marginal price to all diluted units. Executable value asks how much can actually sell across depth.
Both are useful, but they answer fundamentally different questions.
Финальная проверка: price target must imply plausible FDV
Before writing target, multiply it by supply. Then compare result with sector size, peers, revenues, users and capital requirements.
This simple step eliminates many emotionally attractive but mathematically extreme forecasts.
Финальная проверка: peer target must adjust dilution
Peer A with 95% supply circulating and target B with 10% cannot be compared only by current market cap.
Use FDV, future circulation and rights to avoid false cheapness.
Финальная проверка: token value can diverge from protocol value
A successful app can generate value for company, users or validators without transferring enough value to token holders.
FDV should price token rights, not brand success in abstract.
Финальная проверка: governance value needs concentration analysis
Control over treasury or protocol can be valuable, but if insiders dominate voting, small holders have limited effective governance.
Do not price nominal voting rights as equal across tokens.
Финальная проверка: security utility needs staking economics
Native token securing network may justify structural capital demand, but inflation rewards can dilute unstaked holders.
Analyse total security budget, stake ratio and issuance together.
FDV can be low for good reason
Market may discount execution, legal, security or value-capture problems. Low valuation is an invitation to investigate, not proof of opportunity.
Cheap relative to peers only matters if key differences understood.
FDV can be high for good reason
Market may price strong network effects, scarce future supply or rapid adoption. High number alone doesn’t establish bubble.
Question is whether assumptions embedded in valuation are realistic and robust.
Финальная проверка: write what would invalidate dilution thesis
Maybe product demand grows far faster than expected, unlock holders stake instead of sell, or burn offsets emission.
Bearish FDV analysis also needs falsifiable conditions; otherwise it becomes permanent narrative.
Финальная проверка: write what would invalidate bullish thesis
Unexpected accelerated unlock, weaker users, admin mint, treasury selling or collapsing liquidity may change valuation quickly.
Predefined invalidation prevents attachment to one metric.
Финальная проверка: update after every tokenomics change
Governance proposal, migration, burn, emission adjustment or vesting revision should trigger recalculation.
FDV analysis is maintenance process, not one-time screenshot.
Финальная проверка: portfolio sizing follows uncertainty
Low MC/FDV and unclear unlock introduce additional uncertainty beyond price volatility. Position size should reflect both.
Do not compensate uncertainty with leverage or larger allocation because upside multiple looks high.
Финальная проверка: one-page conclusion
End analysis with market cap, FDV, ratio, 12-month dilution, largest cohort, seed discount, liquidity depth, product value capture and three risks.
If these facts fit on one page, decision becomes easier to revisit when market narrative changes.
5% circulation
90% circulation
Fundamentals and valuation multiple still need independent review.
Headline valuation одинаковая, ability to enter and exit radically different.
Проекты A и B имеют ratio 0,2.
Ratio alone cannot rank dilution risk. Horizon and schedule transform same static number into two completely different market structures.
В первом early investors entered only 20% below current price; во втором — 95% below. Potential profit-taking incentives differ sharply.
Schedule tells when supply can move; cost basis helps estimate why holder might move it. Neither metric should be used alone.
Контрольный пример: supply grows, users grow faster
Circulating supply increases 30% while retained users and fees double. Price can remain stable or rise if demand/value creation grows faster than dilution.
This is why tokenomics risk is dynamic rather than mechanical. Supply pressure must be compared with demand engine.
Контрольный пример: supply flat, users fall
MC/FDV can look excellent because almost all tokens circulating, yet product loses users and fee demand. No dilution does not rescue weak fundamentals.
FDV framework should never reduce investment analysis to token supply alone.
FDV falls while product improves
Market-wide risk-off can cut price and FDV in half even as protocol ships features and grows usage. Relative valuation may become more attractive if token rights remain strong.
But lower price can also hurt treasury and validator economics. Reassess full system rather than celebrating cheaper multiple.
FDV rises while treasury weakens
Token rally scales headline diluted valuation, but project treasury may be spending cash and holding mostly own token. Development runway can deteriorate behind stronger market price.
Keep protocol financing separate from token market value.
Контрольный пример: tokenomics dashboard uses max supply, API uses total supply
One source calculates FDV from immutable max, another from currently minted total. The figures differ even with identical price.
Document denominator before citing metric. Disagreement can be methodological rather than data error.
Контрольный пример: max supply technically changeable
Whitepaper states 1 млрд max, but governance contract can raise cap. A provider may still report 1 млрд until governance acts.
Your risk model should include authority to change supply, not only current field value.
Контрольный пример: treasury tokens excluded from circulation
Provider reports low circulating supply because foundation allocation considered non-circulating. If treasury begins grants and market-making, effective float grows gradually.
Watch actual distribution, because reported circulation can lag economic availability depending methodology.
Контрольный пример: high FDV with long lock used as marketing defence
Project argues high FDV is harmless because team tokens locked four years. Long lock reduces near-term seller pressure, but current price still implies large future valuation before product proves itself.
Separate timing concern from valuation concern. Both matter, but they are not same objection.
Контрольный пример: low FDV with immediate unlock used as bargain thesis
Token appears cheap compared with peers, but nearly all private supply unlocks immediately. Market may need to absorb huge profitable cohort before peer valuation becomes relevant.
Cheap diluted valuation does not guarantee favourable short-term market structure.
Контрольный example: best decision is no precise FDV conclusion
If circulating/total supply cannot be reconciled, vesting documents conflict and admin mint rights unclear, any exact diluted valuation creates false precision.
Correct research output can be a range with high uncertainty or a decision to wait until tokenomics become auditable. Uncertainty itself is material risk.
Перед peer comparison сформулируйте, за что именно market платит в каждом случае: cash-flow-like benefit, collateral utility, blockspace demand, governance control, access or purely speculative scarcity.
Это показывает, как быстро меняется aggregate valuation при adverse market and dilution together.
После всех таблиц итог должен звучать просто: current valuation, future dilution, who receives supply, how liquid market is, what demand supports token and what invalidates thesis.
Анализ должен строиться на скорости dilution, реальной liquidity, product demand, value capture and ownership incentives.
